1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

Starts at 7:35 A.M.

The Run Through History 5K invites participants to experience Morrisville’s historic landscape firsthand.  By running past local landmarks and along the Delaware River, participants become part of a living story that connects Morrisville, Bucks County, Trenton, and Philadelphia to the birth of the United States.

The race will start in Williamson Park, which was originally an island with several mills built in the mid-1700s along the raceway between the riverbank and the island.  The race crosses the Delaware Canal State Park, built between 1827 and 1832, and proceeds uphill through tree-lined streets to Summerseat, the home built in 1773 by the owner of the mills.  Summerseat served as George Washington's headquarters between December 8 and 14, 1776.  Robert Morris, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, later purchased the mills and Summerseat.

The race circles Summerseat and reverses back to the canal for a brief run to the Calhoun Street Bridge.  From there, the race is atop the flood-control dike, where downtown Trenton, NJ, is viewed across the river.  There were two decisive Revolutionary War battles there on December 26, 1776, and January 2, 1777.  At the Trenton Makes Bridge, the race heads for Williamson Park and the finish.
